Tokyo gives creators contrast in one city: Senso-ji and the old streets of Asakusa, the Shibuya scramble, and night skylines, with Mt Fuji visible on clear winter days. Most hosted trips start here via Haneda or Narita. Drones are effectively off the table in the city, and tripods are restricted at busy sites.

What creators film here
Asakusa at opening time, before Nakamise-dori fills; the Shibuya crossing from street level and from above; neon side streets around Shinjuku; quiet residential neighbourhoods a short walk from the big stations. The best Tokyo content usually cuts between the scale of the city and the small, orderly details of daily life.
When to come
Late March to early April brings cherry blossom and the heaviest crowds in parks. Autumn is mild and clear. Winter has the best chance of seeing Fuji from the city. June into July is the rainy season, and summer is hot and humid, with typhoon risk from late summer into autumn.
Getting around on a hosted trip
Your return airport transfer from Haneda or Narita is by private licensed vehicle. Activities include the transport that is part of them — the Asakusa–Shibuya walk, for example, uses the subway between the two. Other travel around the city, including train fares, is yours.
Filming notes
- Flying a drone in central Tokyo generally needs government permission, and many parks ban drones outright. Assume no drone unless a permit is confirmed for the specific site and date.
- Tripods and stands are often not allowed at busy crossings, stations and observation decks. Check each venue's rules.
- On trains, keep calls and voiceovers off, and do not film other passengers' faces.
- People in Japan expect privacy in public. Ask before featuring someone, and blur faces you cannot get consent from.
